Scale Replacement at Resident Disposal Center - Public Works

Press Release - Public Works

On Monday, April 9, 2018, work will commence on replacing the scale at the Wallingford Resident Disposal Center at 25 Pent Road.  During the time the scale is being replaced, residents needing to have their vehicles weighed (with a truck or trailer load of waste material) will have several options:

  • HQ Dumpsters will charge a flat $50 fee per load of trash being brought to the facility;
  • residents may choose to go to HQ’s Southington facility “CCRR” at 65 Triano Drive (for older GPS systems, use 135 Lazy Lane for the address) and have their vehicle weighed for an accurate tonnage charge; or
  • residents can be charged “per item” for what they dispose of (ie: $3.65 per bagged trash, $10 per item over 35 pounds, etc. which can add up to over $50).

Work is scheduled to be completed on Friday, April 27, when residents will again be charged accurately for weighed trash. Residents with bagged trash and/or recycling will be charged the same as they have been.  We are sorry for any inconvenience during this time of scale replacement.
